Whether it be Christmas, Birthday, Golden Wedding, Silver Wedding, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Valentine's Day - what better PERSONAL present can you give than a portrait - ideal for parents, grandparents, and, most of all, yourselves.

Photographs will be taken digitally in your own home; they will then be downloaded onto my laptop and you can make your choice immediately after the sitting.

  • It's a sombre thought but so many people bring in old snapshots (often damaged) of granddad or grandma and ask what we can get off them. How much better to have a professional portrait to keep alive the memory of loving grandparents.

We do offer a restoration service for old photographs.

We are often asked when is the best time to start photographing babies.

Whilst we appreciate you want photographs of the new arrival as soon as possible, we would really recommend that the first photographs be with mum and dad. Start having individual baby photographs taken after about six months. By then baby is usually responding readily.

Then double up:
i.e. again after 12 months, at two years, four years, eight years, perhaps one at the start of the teens, then at sixteen, and at twenty-one.
What a nice birthday present at twenty-one to give an album of their life

General portrait advice

Look at any picture on your walls. You will find that your eyes
naturally go to the brightest part of the subject.
The main purpose of a portrait is usually to show the faces.

So try and ensure the faces are the brightest part of the portrait, i.e. try to avoid bright or vivid colours. As a general rule wear colours that are lighter than skin tone - that way you will ensure the focus of attention will be on the faces.

For ladies, long sleeves are more flattering as are loose-fitting garments. If several people are being taken, try to ensure that the clothes are complimentary - e.g. all formal or all casual. If you are in doubt as to what to wear, bring changes of clothing and we can take a variety of poses in different clothes.
