| 200 youngsters from throughout the country converged on Ampleforth in the middle of July for this year's Camp Vincent run by the Youth Committee of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. | |
|
Camp Vincent is the chance for Youth SVP Groups from all over the country to get away together for 4 days in the summer, to relax and make lots of new friends. There was a packed programme of activities, themes and social time -led by the young Youth SVP Field Workers who ensured that there was never a dull moment. In the mornings there were small group workshops, discussions and opportunities for spiritual reflection particularly upon the work done by Youth SVP volunteers. In the afternoon full use was made of the activities available at the College: swimming, tennis, badminton, football. |
|
| On the Friday afternoon a lively version of "It's a Knock-Out" was held in the grounds with the camp divided into 15 teams. | |
| Friday
evening was the Ceilidh night in the Sports Hall. Despite their
exertions during the day the youngsters had a great time taking part in
numerous country dances. And Saturday was the chance for them to show off their talents with a Karaoke session. |
| Each
evening was rounded off with a twenty minute night-time reflection.
